Teachers and students are influenced by the vast technology outside of the classroom. The students now have grown up with technology so it only makes sense to use it in the classroom as well, but for learning purposes. Online textbooks can be accessed outside of class and many other online resource can be utilized in the classroom and at home so the learning continues even at home.

The ISTE Standards have been established to support technology being used in an educational setting and provide educators with the skills and knowledge to help students learn and stay safe in an internet space. Standard 6 & 7 for students is one I am familiar with because I have used the discussion boards on canvas to communicate with teachers and other students about topics we are learning about. I am not so familiar with the teacher standards, like 7 for example, because I am not an educator yet so I haven't had the opportunity to apply these standards yet. I chose standard 7 specifically because it states that educators are supporting their students by using collected data to further their instruction and this seems like an effective standard that I would like to apply once I become a teacher.

I think the term digital native perfectly describes students today. WE have grown up with technology not only at home but in the classroom as well so we learn best from using technology as a resource. Digital natives are any person born in the age of technology and grow up using it from an early age. Students are much better with technology in comparison to most teachers, at least thats how I see it. My teachers use smart boards and tablets in the classroom but students use it outside of the classroom to do much more than learn. Us students use it to communicate, share ideas and memories, and stay involved. I believe that my future students and I will have access to many different types of technology in our classroom and I will be better at using it than my current teachers since I will have grown up with it.
